Behind the Pass

A Cargo Crew x Curtis Stone x Stefanino Panino Event

Imagine this. Two days. Two events. A lunch, a brunch and over 3,000 guests sitting down for service in Kings Domain garden. What makes it memorable? To start, a great menu. With Andrew McConnell looking after the World’s Longest Lunch and the dream team of contemporary Indian cuisine Harry Mangat, Helly Raichura and Mischa Tropp looking after the World’s Longest Brunch, we were in good hands.

But presentation is everything. Styling the uniforms for these two unique events in the park - lunch, a sophisticated fine dining affair - and brunch, a colourful, mimosa fuelled Saturday morning, there were very different stories to be told.

Read on to find out how we told them through our styling of the front of house, bar and host teams for each day.

The Chefs

With Curtis pulling apart Barramundi in passata and forking onto ciabatta and Stef hibachi grilling kangaroo, our chefs for the night couldn’t look past our number one apron, the Banjo Chef Apron. Curtis went for a sleep apron tied at the back while Stef opted for a front bow. Stef went for a casual look with a navy tee, while Curtis donned his kitchen staple, the Banjo Chef Shirt. The stars of the night looked cohesive, but purposefully didn’t match to celebrate their personal taste in the kitchen.

Sous Chefs & Kitchen Crew

Because personal flair is everything, we stuck to a navy-white colourway, but designed different looks for the kitchen crew. Each look matched their unique styles and different roles behind the pass.

Front of House

We LOVE Kaya’s bright red super Birkis with our new Deli Short Cut Apron. This shorter version kept Kayla free to move quickly when slinging out panino to tables and the crisp white helps the navy Panino! embroidery pop, alongside the matching navy tee and Kayla’s stylish silver chains.

The Bar

Style is everything on the bar. Two very different looks come together for ultimate wow factor in Diamond and Harry’s looks. Diamond’s oversized Oly Navy Shirt with simple black Nike shorts and Salomon’s emphasises the white event logo on the navy and celebrates Diamond’s personal style.

Shaking espresso martinis beside Diamond is Harry in the statement all white. The event cap, Banjo Chef Apron in white and matching Oxford Smith Short Sleeve is super elegant, especially with Harry’s red oval frames.

Make it a Visual Feast with Memorable Moments

Bringing daily service or special events to life is all about curating uniform style and adding details that have people talking, long after you’ve packed down. Here’s how to do it:

Last minute changes: when it comes to events, always allow for plan B. Keeping in contact with your suppliers and building a great relationship can make last-minute changes and calling in favours much easier. Curtis & Stef changed the direction of the kangaroo panino last minute, which meant a snap update of artwork and menu printing.
