How to make Kishwar Chowdhury's Naan Khatai
MasterChef Australia’s Kishwar Chowdhury shares her easy five-step Naan Khatai recipe - the perfect biscuit to go with her limited edition Rose Spice Tea.

Follow this easy five-step recipe to create the perfect treat with your tea.
Naan Khatai is a popular, traditional Indian eggless shortbread biscuit. The word 'Naan Khatai' has Persian and Afghan origins with Naan meaning bread and Khatai meaning biscuit.
It's the perfect biscuit to go with Kishwar's Rose Spice Tea which is floral and fragrant with warm spice notes like cinnamon and cardamom.
Kishwar's recipe:
Ingredients:
1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup chickpea flour
1/2 cup semolina
1 cup powdered sugar (caster)
2/3 cup coconut oil
2 tsp cardamom powder
Pistachio, dry rose petal, caraway, sesame seed, as garnish
Method:
- Combine dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl and stir well.
- Add coconut oil and use your hands to massage the mixture into a soft dough.
- Make small balls of dough (approx 15-20g each) and place them on a baking tray.
- Flatten the balls using your thumb or fork and add garnish on top.
- Bake at 160 degrees for approximately 17 minutes, turning the tray once.
